I haven't finished watching the entire episode, but I have to say it's really good. Where has this been all my life?
Well, evidently Canadians aren't invited to this party.
A-torrenting I shall go then!
Ok, so. I am SO GLAD that Wendy doesn't look all "leathered, sex pot-ed" up in the show. I'm really impressed how close a lot of it looks spot-on with the designs/layout in the comic; however, I really dislike the colour and lighting choices. I think it makes the show too soft.
Mike and I are way movie buffs, and - while there's definitely a camp aspect to The Middleman - I think they've gone a little too lighthearted. You can be fun without bounding so deep into funny, you know? We just wish it was a little harder edged, the villians seemed more villian-y in the comic is all.
There were some scenes that made me lol as hard as the comic did, but a lot of the time I was going "No, say it this way! The comic was better!" at my screen. I like Wendy a lot better in the pilot then in the commercials, so that's a good start! I love the guy in the hall and her roommate. I love that they're doing the subtitle intros like the comic.
The George of the Jungle animatronic suits were not was I was expecting, but it was an interesting improv on the studios part. I loved the black bar squears! That had me laughing. It's off to a decent start; I just really hope they run with it. :)
Ha ha! That was, literally, the Ape suit from George of the Jungle. They only had one suit and made many apes with movie magic.
I was a little confused by the leather Wendy too, since last I heard they thought her costume was "too sexy" in the comic and wanted her toned down.
I'm partway through downloading it, though I plan to hold off on watching it until it's on the TV. DVR is all set to record it, but I'm sure we'll be watching it live anyway.
We finally went to see Iron Man last night and saw the trailer for The Middle Man on the big screen. So happy for you! Great going! You're awesome :D
I didn't get the trailer when I saw Iron Man but I keep hearing from folks who did.
My Mom saw a big poster for it at the mall yesterday, too.
Watched it last night, and made happy high-pitched squeaky sounds of geek girl glee. And then went to amazon and pre-ordered the ginormous trade of the collected comics, cos I realised I can totally use it as a loaner copy for to pimp to all my friends.
 way to go les!
I was pleased my credit was so big too.
hey! i downloaded the pilot episode of the middleman when it went up for free on itunes and i've been watching it ever since. one of the best things about the show is how they incorporate music seamlessly into the show. they pick the best stuff. a few weeks ago they played this song called "that town" by layton. if you can pull yourself away from watching middleman eps, you should totally check them out on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/layton | |
